Pro Engineer Wildfire 2 Demo

coolguy094 asked:

A basic demo of the fundamental elements of Pro Engineer CAD modeling. This is the body of a butterfly valve assembly, which hopefully I will have another video of the full assembly later. Basically just video taped myself doing my homework, hah…

Haha, good question. I posted this two years ago and then kinda forgot about it. Now about to graduate, I have long deleted these files. Sorry!

You are right, it is a very simple part to model!

Sure, though what I have seen come out of Solidworks has out-performed anything I have seen from Pro-E in the visual department.

Not sure, I have never used prodesktop, but if it is anything like a standard CAD package, then I’m sure it is. This was an extremely simple part to model.

A program such as 3ds Max is much better for character modeling, as it will render so beautifully and allow for better surface definition and such. Pro-E is more of a straight up Engineering purpose, and allows for mechanical interpretation such as stress/strain analysis and so fourth.

I was interviewed at PTC Company for Pro engineering development group. I pass interview but after it choose work at other company. I’m feeling really bad about it now ;-( , it look so interesting to develop such products like this

Pro/Engineer is a mechanical engineering software, not an animation package like Cinema4D, Lightwave, Maya, or 3DS Max. It is completely useless for character creation/animation. If you want character creation, look at Poser, Zbrush and the like.

This program looks interesting. I dont know if it is efficient in terms of Character modeling (in which case Lightwave 3D, maja or 3ds Max is recommended) but this program looks more precise, simple, but not that it’s easy.

Can you create realistic metal surfaces in Pro-eng like you can with Solidworks?
